Qatar Voices Support for Iran’s Leadership of APA Economic Committee

Qatar’s parliamentary representative expressed support for Iran’s new leadership of the APA Economic Committee during a meeting in Bahrain. Both sides emphasized strengthening parliamentary cooperation and addressing regional challenges, including threats to global peace and violations of international norms.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The head of Qatar’s delegation to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Ahmed bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, voiced his support for Iran’s leadership of the APA Economic Committee.

Al Hitmi held a meeting with Hamidreza Hajibabaei, the Vice Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, on the sidelines of the 16th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Bahrain on Sunday.

Extending his best wishes to Iran as it assumes responsibility for the APA Economic Committee, Al Hitmi stated that the committee deals with significant matters and suggested launching practical initiatives grounded in modern technologies.

He highlighted the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation to reflect the strong political and governmental relations between Qatar and Iran, noting that the APA is the primary platform for parliamentary collaboration and that member states must work toward aligning their positions within this union.

Hajibabaei, in turn, thanked Qatar for its constructive positions during sensitive periods and underscored the friendly ties between the two nations.

Pointing to the critical nature of this year’s General Assembly, he said that global peace is under threat and that the 44-member APA must adopt a decisive stance in the face of international challenges.

He added that international norms are being violated today, stressing that regional cooperation is vital to counter unilateral actions.

Hajibabaei also mentioned the recent foiling of terrorist plots inside Iran and expressed hope that any future schemes by adversaries on the international stage would likewise be defeated.
